My name is Jess and welcome to Truly.Into.Fitness

If you met me now you’d probably think I’ve always been in love with health and fitness. WRONG! Couldn’t be more wrong. Let’s just say I use to be quite the lazy girl…and I always had the extra 20-30 pounds on me. I had never truly been comfortable in my won skin and throughout high school and university, my idea of working out was spending ten to fitness minutes on the elliptical and healthy foods to be a can of soup and melba toasts (no I’m not kidding).

After seeing pictures of myself and being sick of what I saw, I knew I needed to CHANGE something and educate myself. That’s when I decided to start doing weekly weigh-in videos on YouTube. That decision alone CHANGED my life.

I gradually started to lose weight, week by week, not necessarily learning much about health but I definitely was learning how to constantly drop down that number on the scale. But with time, I started to itch to learn more about health and fitness. I began to take spin classes and fell in LOVE. I fell in love with how it made me feel – energized and healthy. And eventually decided to get my OWN indoor cycling certification. Me, Jess, a indoor cycling instructor? Insane, but true. I also, eventually got down to my goal weight.

But it didn’t end here. I started to become obsessed with the scale, with calories and it started to scare my loved ones. They were concerned that I wasn’t LIVING life and paying too much attention to the calories I was taking in. So I decided to stop counting calories and to just live. I wanted to get away from looking at that nutritional label. And at first, I did well. Especially in fitness as truly was the fittest I had ever been. I also decided to get ANOTHER certification – my personal training certification. And that’s when I truly fell in love with fitness. I loved knowing that I could help others reach their goals and I did just that. But in the process, I forgot about the most important person in my life, myself. Sure, I was working out a lot but I didn’t care about what I ate anymore. So, to a shocking realisation, I gained everything back.

Again, I knew I needed to do something. I needed to find a BALANCE between my workouts and the food I was eating. Since a young age, I’ve always had a slow metabolism but instead of hating my body for it, I know I need to embrace it and find something that works for me. So on my 25th Birthday (May 9th, 2011) I began a new journey, my let’s be REAL journey. And since then, I’m happy to say that I’ve lost a total of 23 pounds 45 pounds!

So this isn’t about calorie counting, it’s about healthy LIVING and feeling good! So on this website, you’ll find recipes, workouts, tips, fashion, friends and everything in between!

    SO glad to see you back sweetie!!
    It’s crazy.. I’ve gone through the exact same thing over the past year or so. I didn’t clue in until my mom told me I was a little outta hand cause I wouldn’t even eat condiments. So I started eating everything…and I probably gained back 15 pounds but I’ve learned A LOT over the past year. I’m just starting to get it together now (ie not eating everything in sight/eating what I want, when I want and stopping when I’m full & working out not cause I have to burn the calories, but because it makes me feel good)
    Anyways can’t wait to see what’s in store for you!

    I just want you to know that identify with you so much! I first stumbled on your youtube page back in early 2009 when I was doing WW and found it so inspiring. I lost some weight, about 20 pounds and then, gained it all back plus some (currently in the 170s and so ready to get out). I am so inspired by everything that you do! Please keep vlogging and blogging! And thank you!!

  • Oh my gosh you were right– our stories are so similar! Both coming from an overweight past, both once obsessed with the scale, and both personal trainers (well, ALMOST me πŸ˜‰ ) I can relate to you completely, girl.

  • Hello! I just stumbled upon your blog. This is very inspiring. I am currently 195-ish pounds, hoping to get to around the 130lb mark by October-healthily. My problem is that I am in love with food. :/ I have joined a local gym and began group fitness and spinning classes, and now I am addicted! It is a lot of fun! How long did it take you to lose the 50lbs? You look great, and I look forward to reading your posts!

My beautiful sister introduced me to your instagram page and you give me hope and the motivation I need to continue my weight loss journey πŸ™‚ I’m 24 and I have two beautiful children ages 6 and 4, it has been a constant struggle for me to get back into shape since having my children, but enough is enough I stopped making excuses and started eating healthy working out and jogging every night! I already feel so much better mentally, physically, and emotionally.
